Ignite enthusiasm this bonfire day at Berkeley GREEN Open Event

Aspiring engineers, budding scientists and ambitious cyber space protectors can discover a new approach to secondary education and learning opportunities at the Berkeley GREEN Campus open day, Saturday 5 November, 10:00 -14:00.

The whole community is invited to the open day, which takes place at the new £30million Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park. Guests can warm themselves by a seasonal bonfire, grab a free tasty snack from a complimentary barbecue or enjoy a complimentary toffee apple before speaking with staff about the exciting provision on offer.

The new campus, which is due to open in September 2017, will offer some of the best training facilities in the country for the science, technology, engineering and manufacturing industries and will house the recently approved state of the art University Technical College (UTC) and GREEN Skills Centre.

The GREEN Skills Centre, which will be developed over the next five years, will incorporate education, training, business start-up and research facilities with a focus on the development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and is part-funded by GFirst LEP's Gloucestershire Growth Deal.

The UTC, which is one of sixty planned or already open UTCs nationally, will provide specialist, high quality, vocational and academic education for learners with a strong interest in advanced engineering and digital technologies.

Those interested in learning at the UTC are encouraged to attend and apply early; the last open day so popular that spaces are already becoming limited for starting in September 2017.

Chair of UTC Governors and principal of SGS College, Sara-Jane Watkins comments: “Open days at the Berkeley GREEN Campus have been very popular and visitors have found them to be highly beneficial. If you are interested to discover what the new campus can offer you, pay us a visit on Saturday 5 November.”
