Foreign direct investment from outside the European Union is recognised as a key component to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. It is outlined as a key element of the growth programme for Gloucestershire in the Gloucestershire Strategic Economic Plan and the Gloucestershire Local Enterprise Partnership European Structural and Investment Funds Strategy. Currently 0.8% of businesses in Gloucestershire are non-UK owned, including well-known companies such as GE Aviation, Horizon, Unilever Messier Dowty, Delphi, Federal Mogul, SKF (precision engineers), and Endsleigh Insurance. However, in terms of the percentage of non-UK owned businesses in each Local Enterprise Partnership area, Gloucestershire is ranked nineteenth. This call predominantly seeks to invest European Regional Development Funds in activities that will overcome barriers to improve the value and percentage of non-UK owned businesses in Gloucestershire. The key priority is to attract new foreign investment into the county pro-actively.  However, activity that also provides support to new and existing foreign owned businesses, facilitating growth and motivating business retention in Gloucestershire for the long term, is welcomed.

We will be holding a workshop to discuss the opportunity, and provide potential applicants further detail on the requirements of the call and the application process for the funding. This workshop will be held on Wednesday the 11th October at 2:00pm in the Growth Hub.  To book your place on the workshop please click here.
