Becoming a Successful Company Director

15 Mar 2017

Becoming a Successful Company Director is being delivered by Saba Yousif, a Senior Law Lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire, Gwyn Jones, the Dean of Life Sciences and Business at the University and Alexander May, a lawyer working in corporate law in Gloucester. It’s taking place at the Growth Hub on 15th March from 10.30 (arrivals from 10am) to 5pm, with a buffet lunch.

Directorship is the pinnacle for many people, a reward for a career of hard work and dedication to the growth of a business. As a director you now have a stake and say in the way the business is run. But this privilege comes with a number of duties and responsibilities. There are corporate governance rules to adhere to and legislation to abide by – and all this on top of the daily challenge of steering your organization in the right direction.

Becoming A Successful Company Director is a practical course that will introduce you to the important issues to know about the role, and equip you to become an effective and efficient director. We’ll examine whether you have the powers to carry out the Director’s tasks assigned to you, and ensure you know what your duties and responsibilities are. We also look at what goes into a successful board meeting, and why we need a culture of values and corporate social responsibility.

Is this course for you? Yes, if you are:

• a newly appointed director looking for a comprehensive introduction
• an established director looking for a refresher and update on legal issues
• a senior manager or leader who aspires to directorship, or
• a company secretary who needs sight of the legal applications

And you’ll come away with all the knowledge and skills to become a successful, compliant and effective company director.
