Export Week: Gloucester opens its doors to China

China remains a fast growing market and is a vital part of the Government’s plan to strengthen the UK economy through exports valued at £30bn by 2020.  The chance to showcase Gloucestershire’s products and services and highlight potential investment opportunities is highly valued as a way to build long term relationships. 

Qing Lin, one of our valued Ambassadors and founder of Join In China, a company that is dedicated to helping UK businesses establish themselves in China, is currently on a whistle-stop tour of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shantou and Beijing to promote trading links with Gloucestershire.  Developing key contacts and relationships in these important provinces, Qing will be visiting a wide variety of influential dignitaries that includes the Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce and the Head of the Shantou Foreign Affairs Bureau. She will also be taking the opportunity to identify tourism opportunities for the county and will be facilitating a meeting for a Gloucestershire high tech company to do business in Shenzhen.

Qing’s visit builds on the success of a trade visit from senior Government officials from the Wuhou District of Chengdu City of China visiting Gloucester last year, culminating in a partnership agreement to explore reciprocal trading opportunities.

Before her visit, Qing commented: “Building successful trading relationships requires mutual understanding and respect that needs to be forged and I’m delighted to be able to have the opportunity to do just this. Gloucestershire has some fantastic products and services to export to the Chinese market and I believe that small and medium enterprises should have the opportunity to showcase what we can offer as a county by meeting Chinese officials to talk about real projects and opportunities.”
