7 April 2015
The Great British High Street Awards are back for 2015, and are inviting local people to help in the search for the countries best high street.
The Awards provide a national platform to:
- showcase success stories and share best practice;
- showcase the diversity of how places are servicing local needs;
- give the public the opportunity to celebrate and endorse their local high street and make the most of what it has to offer; and
- recognise the excellent effort of town teams, the business community, local authorities, the charitable sector and volunteers, and other key partners, in achieving the above successes.
Penny Mordaunt, Minister for High Streets, Town Centres and Markets wants to see even more entries this year. She said “High streets are a vital part of our economy supporting thousands of jobs in retail and leisure but they are also the heart of all communities providing a great place for friends and family to meet. There is so much amazing innovation happening on our high streets. We want to reward the great work that is being done to improve these crucial assets as well as showcase ideas which can be a springboard for others to try. The first competition last year was a tremendous success and I want this year to be even better.”
There are a range of categories that high streets can be entered under, please visit The Great British High Street website for more details of these.
The 17th July is the deadline for applications.
