Loan from GFirst LEP fund supports new care home in Gloucester

Gloucester MP Richard Graham performed the official opening of Park View, Gloucester on Friday 21st October.

Now registered with Care Quality Commission, Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group and Gloucestershire Adult Social Care, Park View is a state-of-the-art care home situated in Gloucester.  With specialist dementia and nursing facilities, residential care, Close Care Plus apartments and respite care, Park View offers a range of care services for older people and is now open to residents.

The official opening was attended by local dignitaries including the Mayor of Gloucester, Councillor Neil Hampson and Chief Executive of GFirst LEP David Owen. Park View was part-funded by GFirst LEP, through the Gloucestershire Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF). The event was also attended by local health care professionals, key suppliers and staff from the Gloucester-based Markey Group, who are behind the new development.

Park View provides 24-hour individualised care and already has its first residents. The 97 bed state of the art care home will have capacity for 102 residents across four floors and will be supported by a dedicated team of care staff.  The home will provide employment for around 150 people when full.

Paul Markey from the Markey Group, commented:

“We are immensely proud of Park View, which is going to be a great asset to Gloucester and the surrounding area. The whole project has brought together many different aspects of the Markey Group resulting in a fantastic finished product. The team here at Park View will provide 'a home for life' in which individuals can flourish and thrive. They will adopt a holistic approach dedicated to meeting the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of all the residents. Early feedback from residents and their families is already very positive”.

Richard Graham, MP for Gloucester, added:

“Park View is another strong example of Gloucester moving forward.  This is business-led regeneration of a prominent cross roads site that was derelict, now reborn as a modern care home open to residents – providing a service we need and 150 jobs.  I congratulate warmly the Markey Group and thank the Gloucestershire Infrastructure Investment Fund for their help”.
