National networks for collaborative outreach

The National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) scheme aims to encourage more young people into higher education (HE).

It brings together universities and further education colleges into local networks to provide coordinated outreach to schools and colleges. The scheme involves 200 universities and FECs and will reach 4,300 secondary schools and colleges through 34 local and 4 national networks.

The Gloucestershire network is called GROWS (Gloucestershire Reaching Out With Schools) consisting of The University of Gloucestershire, The Royal Agricultural University, Hartpury College, Gloucestershire College and SGS College - See  www.grows.ac.uk for details.

The Berkeley event is part of a wider strategy to engage 10 Glos schools with lowest HE uptake.

They have 150 Year 10 learners visiting on 3rd March to explore skills required to go into HE and the various pathways available for all students  (academic and vocational). These skills and knowledge will be disseminated via subject tasters from 10 disciplines delivered by reps from all HE providers, working together on the Berkeley site; these sessions include  Sport, Creative Art and Design, Media, Special Effects Make-up, Computing and Cyber Security, Zoological Management, Equine, Illustration and Games Design.
