Following the success of the pilot Start-Up Gloucester conference in November 2013 Gloucestershire College will be hosting its second Start-Up Gloucester Conference on Thursday 12th June.
Organised with the support of Richard Graham, MP for Gloucester the college is delighted to welcome Gazelle entrepreneur, Chis Slater as the keynote speaker. Chris helped turn Simply Business from a tiny start-up company, into one of the UK’s largest online commercial insurance providers.
Simply Business has come a long way since Chris joined as Head of Insurance working with 10 staff in a converted flat. Today, with more than 170 employees, Simply Business is phenomenally successful and has been listed in the Sunday Times league table of Britain’s 100 private tech companies for four years running as well as being named in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 for Europe, the Middle East and Asia in 2011.
Now Chief Operating Officer, Chris, 34, believes that taking part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme whilst in education provided him with a solid set of skills that are ideally needed by start-up companies.
The free Start-Up Gloucester conference at the college is aimed at those who are considering starting their own business, or who are in the initial stages of setting up their own business, and will take place from 9am until 1pm at the College’s Gloucester Campus on Llanthony Road.
Whether you’d like to know about writing a viable business plan, registering your company and protecting your brand, finance options, start-up marketing techniques or using social media for business, the conference will empower you to move your plans and ideas forward.
Peter White, Vice Principal of Customer Services and Marketing said; “The Start-Up Gloucester conference brings together aspiring entrepreneurs in the City. As a Gazelle College, we are committed not only to encouraging the entrepreneurial ambitions of our own students, but to creating opportunities and supporting the ambitions of the local business community.”
Richard Graham, MP for Gloucester, said; "This is exactly the sort of initiative we need to maintain Gloucester's role as one of the most dynamic start up centres in the land.”
Register your interest in the Start-Up Gloucester conference today by emailing gazelle@gloscol.ac.uk. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
